The global community is still fighting the COVID-19 pandemic that has devastated individuals, families, communities and countries. Efforts to re-open our economies, institutes of research and learning as well as our boarders have already begun, however, a full recovery and return to the world that we knew, only several months ago, will be a very long process. I would like to congratulate the contributing authors, reviewers, and the managing team on a very successful 2019. AIMS Agriculture and Food has continued this year to gain visibility and recognition. Our collective efforts, dedication, and productivity have further advanced our journal and have resulted in significant accomplishments. During 2019, the journal has attracted a record number of authors from all over the world and 158 manuscripts have been submitted. This is a new record that represents a 24% increase in submission from 2018. Our dedicated and highly professional editors have continued to effectively review the submitted manuscripts and based on their recommendations, 65 of the submitted manuscripts have been published (41%). We are committed to a fair, thorough, effective, and relevant review process and are dedicated to promoting and publishing manuscripts that carry high level of scientific merits and relevance. The published papers consisted of 54 research papers, 9 reviews and 2 editorials. The journal is currently indexed in: AGRICOLA, AGRIS, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Web of Science and Scopus. Aims Agriculture and Food is focused on the continuum that spans from agriculture through food production, processing and consumption. This multidisciplinary scope draws on a broad array of basic and applied disciplines, is well reflected in the articles that have been published this year, and represents the unique strength of the journal. We continue to be dedicated to continuously enhancing the quality and impact of our journal. The papers that have been published in 2019 address the very significant challenges that jeopardize that availability of sufficient food and feed that is needed in order to sustain the growing global population. During 2019, the journal has continued to enhance its visibility and competitiveness. The published articles have attracted the attention of a growing population of readers and 10 of these articles have been downloaded 17,174 times10,310 times, a 66% increase from 2018. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has resulted in a major disruption of the food supply chain, all over the world. This new challenge requires all of us to rethink and redesign our local, national, and international supply chains. Efforts to enhance the resilience of food supply chains and creative approaches for ensuring food supply during global crisis time are needed. I would like to invite our past, current and future authors to publish in 2020 results of research efforts that are directed at meeting these challenges. The success of the journal is dependent on the quality and relevance of the submitted manuscripts and on the dedication and efforts of our reviewers. On behalf of the editorial and managing team, I would like to thank the authors that have submitted their work to the journal in 2019 and to the reviewers that have worked very hard in assessing these submissions. I hope that the growth and success of 2019 will continue in 2020 and that AIMS Agriculture and Food will continue to evolve in terms of both quality and reputation. As the Editor in Chief of the journal, I call upon all the members of the editorial board to promote the journal among their students, colleagues and peers as well as to set an example by submitting at least one manuscript in 2020. The Editorial Board, the managing team, and I are committed to continue our efforts in ensuring the high quality and success of our journal. I am confident that although we are being challenged by a global pandemic, our collective efforts will allow us to meet the objectives that we have set for our journal. I would like to thank you for your continuous support and I wish you a very healthy, safe and successful 2020.
