Manuscript Topics

In the recent years, there has been a tremendous progress in realistic ecological modeling of different natural phenomena. Analysis of the new models has reshaped our understanding of several ecological concepts such as ecosystem, habitat, species diversity, life history, fitness, selection, competition, predation, maturation and dispersal. In addition to advancing the theory, ecological models have been increasingly valuable predictive and analytic tools for population management and decision support.

The goal of this special issue is to highlight the importance of ecological modeling in theory and practice. Preference will be given to articles that employ ecological modeling to increase our understanding of population ecology, species dispersal and interactions, population fitness and community dynamics.

Specific topics include but are not limited to population regulation; competition, predation, mutualism and parasitism; population dispersal, mechanisms of coexistence and the maintenance of species diversity; food-web structure and trophic dynamics; community assembly; conservation and restoration biology; and behavioral ecology.
