Manuscript Topics
Musculoskeletal tissue defects are the major causes of disability worldwide with high rate of morbidity, and repair and reconstruction of soft tissues by using microsurgical and minimal invasive technologies for both musculoskeletal system injuries and degeneration thus have recently been the key points in research and clinical practice. New emerging technologies, including wrist arthroscopy, acellular scaffolds, novel surgical designs and new imaging technologies are becoming the key tools to promote recovery and reduce the secondary injury caused by surgery. Moreover, novel technologies on peripheral nerve imaging for nerve lesion and regeneration observation, as well as artificial nerve conduits will bring new potential therapies for both peripheral nerve injury and nerve entrapment syndromes.
The aim of this special issue is to describe the current applications of these new microsurgical and minimal invasive technologies for musculoskeletal tissue repair.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
• Emerging technologies including bioprinting, biofabrication, novel bone scaffold fabrication method, novel medical design, and new surgery technology
• Wrist arthroscopy for treatment of aseptic necrosis of carpal bones
• Design and measurements of advanced equipment
• Miniature medical device for minimal invasive surgery
• Potential impacting factors of musculoskeletal clinics
• Potential risk factors of musculoskeletal injuries
• Interactive technologies, surgical techniques, and promising hand surgery procedures, and their scientific basis, indications, complications, outcomes, and follow-up data
• Peripheral nerve imaging for nerve lesion, compression and regeneration
• Clinical outcomes of advanced rehabilitation for musculoskeletal degenerative diseases and sports injuries (bone, cartilage, and soft tissues)
• Biomechanics in orthopaedic surgery, musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation
• Regional epidemiology of osteoporosis and management strategy
