  • During the 2024, we had 40 submissions, 28 published papers. Of these, 18 were research articles, 8 were review articles. Authors were most often from USA, Brazil, France, Japan, China, India, Mexico and other countries.

In 2024, so far, two of the more successful special issues have published 6 articles each, and there are still authors contributing to this special issue “Artificial intelligence in bioengineering: Pioneering advances in medical robotics, imaging, and personalized therapeutics”. AIMS Bioengineering have invited 8 experts to join our Editorial Board in 2024. We will continue to renew Editorial Board in 2025.

For the next year I hope we can increase the number of high quality submissions to this journal, while maintaining a rigorous review process. We also have a number of actions planned which we hope will enable further development to strengthen the presence, quality and sustainability of our journal. For example, invite high reputation and professional authors to submit manuscripts for our journal, issuance of more popular special issues, renewal of the Editorial Board and reduction of processing time. We will be seeking the support of the Editorial Board members to make this plan a success.

I would like to end this report by thanking all the members of the journal's Editorial Team and Board. The continued growth seen in 2024 was due to your hard work and I look forward to working with you to further build the strength and reputation of our journal in 2025.

The submissions of our AIMS Bioengineering journal in 2024 down slightly. The journal AIMS Bioengineering began accepting submissions in 2024 and in the past year, it received 40 submissions. Of those, 28 were submitted online, 7 were rejected. The Median Publication time in 2024 (from submission to online) is 107.5 days, we will try our best to reduce the processing time in 2025 and still supply authors with a better experience for publication.

    Submission: 40

    Online: 28

    Rejection: 7

    Reject rate: 17.9%

Median Publication time (from submission to online): 107.5 days

Author country of origin distribution is shown below. It is pleasing to see so many countries represented among our authors. The following Chart shows that the majority of authors of AIMS Bioengineering online manuscripts in 2024 are from India, Brazil, USA, Japan, France, China and Mexico.

We encourage Editorial Board members to suggest potential topics and to act as guest editors of special issues. The following two Special Issue were established in 2023, so far, these two special issues have published 6 articles each, and there are still authors contributing to this special issue “Artificial intelligence in bioengineering: Pioneering advances in medical robotics, imaging, and personalized therapeutics”.

AIMS Bioengineering has 60 Editorial Board members, 8 of which joined in 2024. Importantly, we thank all Editorial Board members for their hard work throughout the year, and it is noted that many Editorial Board members made significant contributions to our journal. We will continue to renew Editorial Board in 2025.

In 2024, our journal developed smoothly. We have received 40 submissions and published 28 papers in 2024.

The IF grades situation: The 2022 Impact Factor is 2.3, the 2023 Impact Factor is 1, citations have dropped a lot, and in 2025 we will make improving citations a priority, at the same time, we will continue to take this opportunity to elevate our journal AIMS Bioengineering to a higher level with the joint efforts of the editorial board, editors, and contributing authors in the 2025.

In order to distribute the knowledge, quality science and to enhance the scope of our newly launched journal we need support from eminent professionals. With this in mind, our first action for 2025 is to renew the Editorial Board. This renewal has two parts: (1) invitation of leading scholars in the field of Bioengineering to join the Board; and (2) removal of members who have become inactive.

Our second action for 2025 is to invite high reputation and professional authors to submit manuscript for our journal. We will try to invite more high-quality articles (Research and Review), especially the Review. And we plan to increase the proportion of articles from developed countries. The proportion of Indian countries published in 2024 is a little high, and the number of publications in this country must be reduced in 2025.

The third action is to edit more popular Special Issues and Topic associated with hot area on Bioengineering. This will attract more submissions from authors studying Bioengineering. Increase influence by soliciting and advertising high quality articles and special issues (topics).

The fourth action is to improve the journal influence. We strive to have our journals indexed by all top databases, including EI, Scopus, Pubmed, etc. We seek to be indexed in Scopus in 2025. We also strive to maximize exposure to high-quality articles in a variety of ways in order to provide good science and knowledge.

The fifth action, and the most important for 2025, is to increase citations. We have to maximize exposure to high-quality and high-cited articles in a variety of ways in order to provide good science and knowledge. Specific ways to improve paper citations are planned as follows: (1) Focusing on current hot issues, frontier areas or topics of social significance can attract more attention and citations; (2) After the publication of the paper, the initiative of publicity and promotion is also an effective way to improve the citation rate; (3) Pay attention to the publication's article citation, explain the situation to the author regularly, encourage and motivate the author to continue to expand the citation of the article; (4) In order to avoid the impact of uncited articles on the overall citation of the journal, usually, when call for papers, editors should pay special attention to the author's past articles cited situation; (5) For highly cited authors published in our journal, suggest continue to expand the influence, make a paper invitation to him to submission for free, and the journal thanked him for his contribution; (6) Seek cooperation with other journals, conferences, and scientific laboratories to promote communication, academic publication, and further increase the impact of your journal; (7) Grasp the existing resources, past contributing authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and actively mobilize all parties to promote positive and effective action.
