This special issue seeks to explore the expansive role of AI in planning resilient urban landscapes, capable of withstanding a variety of modern challenges. This issue will focus on uncovering how AI can be strategically implemented to not only react to crises but also proactively manage and mitigate risks. We invite researchers to present their original research and case studies that shed light on AI’s capacity to revolutionize urban living—from addressing the robustness of urban infrastructure to ensuring social welfare and ecological sustainability. This special issue will serve as a platform for sharing visionary ideas and empirical results that demonstrate AI’s crucial role in the evolution of resilient cities, balancing technological advancements with human-centric and ecological considerations. We welcome original research that advances knowledge and practice in these critical areas.
