Manuscript Topics
Metastasis is the primary cause of death in cancerous patients. Diagnosis of early metastasis for appropriate cancer therapy remains a challenge in bench side and bed side. Contemporary multiple imaging modalities are commonly used for detection of primary tumors, and metastatic tumors in clinics. However, these modalities are mainly functioned as a “reporter” for physicians to determine the stage of tumors, rather than delivery of therapeutic effects to patients. It is interested to know if concomitant diagnosis and therapy, namely theranostic, for metastatic tumor is feasible in cancer treatment. This concept should largely rely on the biocompatible compounds that can emit detectable photons and therapeutic particles to target on tumors. Additionally, it is expected to use theranostic approach to treat tumors with early metastatic abilities, as well as the dynamic behavior (invasion, extraversation, circulation in blood vessels…). Therefore, this special issue is aim to invite the papers with innovated ideas, methodology, or materials to reach the purpose of early diagnosis and real-time therapy on metastasis.
