Manuscript Topics
With the rapid development of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), the manufacturing industry is undergoing a paradigm shift from traditional, isolated production modes to platform-based, collaborative ecosystems. Platform-based manufacturing (e.g., Cloud Manufacturing, Shared Manufacturing) enables the efficient sharing of manufacturing resources and capabilities across geographical boundaries. However, the complexity of these platforms introduces significant challenges in operation management, resource allocation, and decision-making. Furthermore, in the context of global carbon neutrality goals, sustainability has become a critical constraint and objective for manufacturing platforms. Balancing economic efficiency with environmental sustainability (e.g., energy consumption, carbon footprint) requires advanced optimization techniques and innovative management mechanisms. This Special Issue seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss state-of-the-art results in the field of sustainable and collaborative optimization within platform-based manufacturing. We welcome high-quality original research papers and comprehensive reviews that address the theoretical and practical challenges in this domain.
