Manuscript Topics

The field of insurance mathematics and actuarial science has always been at the forefront of managing various financial and insurance risks. In an era of unprecedented economic, environmental, and technological changes, the need for innovative approaches to modeling risks and managing risks with optimization purposes has never been more critical. In particular, the insurance industry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by advancements in data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), as well as the increasing complexity of risks associated with climate change, cyber threats, and global pandemics. These developments demand novel mathematical frameworks, optimization techniques, and computational tools to enhance various risks assessment and management, insurance product design and pricing, reserving, capital allocation and management etc.

This special issue is dedicated to exploring cutting-edge research in risk modeling, risk management and optimization problems, with a focus on addressing emerging challenges and opportunities in the insurance and actuarial domains.

This special issue invites high-quality research papers on a wide range of topics of actuarial science, including but not limited to:

• AI, ML, and big data analytics in actuarial science
• Capital allocation, and risk-based capital frameworks
• Climate and catastrophe risks
• Cyber risk and emerging threats
• Longevity risk and pension plan
• Long-term care insurance
• Optimal (re)insurance
• Pandemic risk
• Pricing and reserving
• Quantitative risk management
• Risk theory
• Stochastic modeling and control
