As the rapid innovation of digital techniques like big data analysis, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, blockchain and so forth. They have been increasingly integrated into all areas of economic and social development and grown into important driving factors of high-quality development. The digital techniques are having profound impacts on both economic and social development and people’s way of life and production, leading to a new era of all-round development of digital economy. Digital economy is not only a new economic growth point, but also a fulcrum for transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. Accordingly, we should think deeply over the relationship between the development of digital economy and environmental pollutions.
Using digitization to empower ecological environment governance is in line with the development trend and law of digital economy in response to the new situation. This requires an examination of ecological pollution monitoring and accurate pollution control, which is key to the equilibrium development between economy, environment and energy. Thus, this special issue aims to explore environmental pollution improvement in the context of digital economy development. It attempts to integrate digital techniques, economic development and environmental governance, involving carbon emission monitoring and accounting, green and low-carbon technologies, energy conservation and emission reduction and so forth to explore the coordinated development between digital economy and environmental governance, such that we can drive changes in the way we produce, live and govern by fully making use data.
