Manuscript Topics

In the age of Industry 4.0/5.0, a key issue is the development of highly integrated and fully flexible production, testing, and end-user systems, which can be dynamically reconfigured and adapted to changes in products, markets, and user needs. Closing the gap between efficiency, reliability and versatility requires the development of machines that meet both requirements. Other critical issues are safety in collaborative environments, the reduction of energy consumption, the adoption of recycling/recyclable materials and the minimization of the environmental footprint. Such requirements need developments in instrumentation, intelligent control, acquisition, digitization, storage, communication and data analysis, machine learning, cloud computing, internet of things, digital twins and simulation, collaborative robotics, human-machine interaction, additive manufacturing, customization, circularity, and other technologies.

This Special Issue focuses on new developments and applications of automation, instrumentation, and control in the paradigm of industry 4.0/5.0.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Automation Technology
• Intelligent Monitoring and Control
• Signal Conditioning and Data Processing
• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms
• Human-machine Interfaces and Haptic Systems
• Digital Twins and Industrial Internet of Things
• Robotic Systems, Soft Robotics, CNC Machines, Mechatronics, Micromachines
• Kinematics, Dynamics and Optimization of Mechanisms and Machines
• Reliability, Maintenance and Safety
• Experimental testing techniques
