Manuscript Topics
3D printing has become a topic of high interest in recent years from both academic and industrial points of view, with increasing importance within the manufacturing industry. 3D printing uses different materials and processes to construct sustainable with intricate geometry form, fixed and functionally graded finished parts. AM processes include—but are not limited to—material extrusion, directed energy deposition, material jetting, powder bed fusion, binder jetting, and sheet lamination, to name a few.
This special issue will focus on the processing of different kinds of materials by 3D printing technologies with emphasis on sustainability issues of pure, mixed or multi-layer-materials 3D printing issues. The presentation of new sustainable processing strategies and optimization methodologies is of utmost importance.
It will cover, but not be limited, the following topics:
• Experimental design for sustainable process data observation
• Optimization methodologies and approaches for increasing the experimental power and reducing the cost
• Taguchi design and additive modeling approaches for signal-to-noise approach optimization
• Box-Behnken and center composite designs for surface response second order design modeling for sustainable 3D printing parameter optimization
• Machine learning techniques and sustainability issues in 3D printing
• Fused deposition modeling sustainability optimization
• Multi-layer-multi-material 3D printing optimization
• Other material 3D printing optimization for sustainable 3D printing
