The circular economy aims to reduce waste and maximize the value extracted from resources through sustainable design, maintenance, repair, reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling. Artificial intelligence and machine learning offer powerful new techniques that can accelerate and enhance circular processes across product life cycles. This special issue explores the intersection of AI and the evolving framework of circular economy 2.0.

We welcome original research or review papers on AI applications across circular economy domains, including but not limited to:

• Product design for circularity, durability, and recyclability
• Predictive maintenance and remanufacturing
• Automated disassembly and sorting for recycling
• Circular supply chain optimization
• AI for material discovery and substitution
• Life cycle assessment powered by big data and AI
• Techno-economic modeling of circular systems
• AI monitoring of material flows and recovery rates
• AI-based recommender systems for resource sharing platforms
• Blockchain applications for circular supply chains
• Policy implications of AI-enabled circular economy

Papers developing new models at the nexus of AI and circular economy are highly encouraged. Case studies demonstrating practical implementations of AI for the circular economy and their sustainability benefits are also welcome.
