Manuscript Topics

There is a very limited understanding of how neural circuits function in animals apart from a few isolated examples. This is not from a lack of experimental work, but instead from the complexity of neural systems. To help constrain the problem, theory and computational approaches may help predict the way these systems are expected to function, such as the identification of putative functional modules within a neural system, network metrics to explain the organization of neurons and their connections, and models to explain how information is stored and retrieved. This special issue is a call for papers that meet this theme and possibly generate hypotheses for use by experimental neuroscientists.
