Neuroscience is driven by various questions: how does the brain work? How is neuronal signaling going on? how do neurons control behavior? how is neuronal signaling associated with disease? Neuroscience is rich in mysteries and thus it is far richer in applications such as neural prosthetics of all kinds, for hearing, sight, the brain–machine interfaces to make lost or paralyzed limbs run, brain stimulation of various kinds for helping Parkinson’s disease, depression, and among other brain conditions. With blossom of artificial intelligence, neuroscience may move to a new direction. Thus, it is a good time for real applications of neuroscience with aid of new and powerful tools that will make deep and meaningful contributions to society.

AIMS Neuroscience has included a section dedicated to “neuroscience techniques/applied neuroscience”. Contributions should deal with various methodologies and techniques related to brain imaging, neuronal signaling, brain stimulation, brain-machine/computer interface, neural prosthetics and so on. Research addressing artificial intelligence in applied neuroscience is particularly encouraged.
