Manuscript Topics
Endometriosis is a chronic, estrogen-dependent inflammatory disease characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, affecting approximately 10% of reproductive-age women. Despite its high prevalence, endometriosis remains underdiagnosed and often inadequately managed, leading to significant physical, psychological, and social burdens. The disease presents a heterogeneous spectrum of symptoms, including pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and infertility, and it frequently requires multidisciplinary approaches for effective care.
In recent years, substantial advances have been made in our understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of endometriosis. Novel diagnostic tools, medical therapies, and surgical strategies are reshaping the landscape of patient care, yet many challenges remain—particularly in the areas of early diagnosis, long-term management, and individualized treatment pathways.
This special issue of AIMS Medical Science is dedicated to highlighting the latest research, clinical advances, and expert perspectives in the field of endometriosis. We welcome original articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and thought-provoking commentaries that address current controversies, explore innovative treatments, and provide insights into the biological mechanisms underlying the disease.
By gathering high-quality contributions from leading researchers and clinicians, this issue aims to foster a deeper understanding of endometriosis and support the development of improved strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and patient-centered care.
