Manuscript Topics

This special issue focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to the assessment of pain memory. We intend to collect papers that assess pain memory in healthy individuals and in patients with chronic pain (e.g., fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, etc.). Currently, the reliability of pain memory remains unclear, as there is limited evidence to determine whether individuals can accurately recall their past pain experiences. This ambiguity highlights the need for further investigation, particularly in differentiating how pain memory may vary between healthy individuals and those with chronic pain conditions. Additional research is essential to better understand the underlying mechanisms of pain memory and its potential clinical implications.

This issue covers, but is not limited to the following topics:
• Biopsychosocial approach to the assessment of pain memory
• Assessment of the accuracy and consistency of pain memory
• Differences between pain memory in healthy people and in chronic pain patients
• Multidisciplinary methods of assessment of pain memory

Key words: Pain recall; chronic pain; pain memory
