Manuscript Topics
Advanced composites underpin critical technologies across aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, and infrastructure, delivering unparalleled lightweight performance and structural resilience. But a new frontier is emerging. The urgency of climate change, resource constraints, and the circular economy calls for a fundamental rethinking of composite design—one that integrates environmental sustainability as a core objective, not an afterthought.
This requires accounting for lifecycle impacts from the very outset: from material extraction and manufacturing to in-service behaviour, durability, and end-of-life pathways.
We are therefore pleased to invite you to contribute to this special issue on "Advanced Composites: Digital Twins and Sustainability”, as we believe this special issue will serve as a landmark collection that defines the state-of-the-art and charts the path forward for the next generation of sustainable composite materials, processes, and structures.
We welcome contributions from researchers across academia, industry, and government laboratories—whether you are developing novel computational frameworks, deploying digital twins for sustainable composite design and manufacturing, or validating these approaches through industrial case studies.
Together, we can advance the frontier of advanced composite engineering—creating smarter, greener, and more resilient materials and structures for a sustainable future.
We look forward to receiving your contributions!
