Manuscript Topics
This special issue addresses recent advances in metal-polymer hybrid structures, with a particular focus on their joining technologies, performance, and engineering applications. The growing demand for lightweight, high-strength, and multifunctional materials has driven the integration of metals and polymers into hybrid systems. By combining the complementary properties of metals and polymers, these systems are driving innovation across a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, marine, and electronics.
Despite their potential, the development of reliable and efficient joining methods for distinct metal-polymer systems remains a critical challenge. Advanced joining technologies, such as friction welding and spot welding, laser-assisted joining, adhesive bonding, and mechanical fastening, have emerged as promising solutions to overcome these limitations and enable reliable, high-performance interfaces.
This Special Issue welcomes contributions on, but not limited to, the following topics:
• Hybrid structures metal-polymer
• Interfacial bonding mechanisms and adhesion mechanisms
• Microstructure and interface characterization
• Mechanical performance, durability, and failure mechanisms
• Surface treatments
• Numerical modeling
• Structural design, optimization, and performance
• Industrial applications and case studies
• Additive manufacturing-based joining
Key words:
