Manuscript Topics
Environmental mineral materials (EMMs) refer to a class of mineral materials that can be used to reduce pollutants in the atmosphere, water and soil environments, and have environment protection and remediation functions. EMMs mainly include natural mineral materials, modified mineral materials, and composite mineral materials. Many environmental mineral materials have excellent physical and chemical properties such as adsorption, filtration, separation, ion exchange and catalysis due to their unique composition and structural characteristics, so they have widely application in environmental protection.
Due to the plentiful mineral resources in the nature, EMMs usually have the characteristics of abundant reserves, easy processing and low price. Therefore, we need to deeply study the mineralogical characteristics of chemical composition, crystal structure, surface morphology, pore structure and physical and chemical properties of EMMs and reveal the purification mechanism, develop their purification functions and application in the environmental protection, make full use of the natural properties of minerals, to develop environmentally friendly EMMs which may bring us great social and economic benefits.
We invite authors to submit their original research or review articles which could expand the fundamental research and practical application of EMMs. We are particularly interested in articles that explore all aspects of rocks and minerals as an important resource in raw forms or modified forms for environmental applications. The applications include the utilization of mineral materials for contaminant reduction, removal, and degradation as well as interactions between contaminants and mineral materials.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
• Characterization of mineral materials
• Natural self-purification based on minerals
• Interactions between mineral materials and contaminants
• Modification of minerals and mineral materials for environmental application
• Environmental treatment application of novel mineral materials
• Hybrid materials with mineral materials as part of the components
• Integrated use of waste mineral materials for environmental applications
