Manuscript Topics
Arriving at sustainable coastal adaptation options for local communities is pressing yet challenging in a changing climate. From soft to hard measures and no active intervention to managed retreat, the process in determining feasible and effective coastal adaptations span across multiple knowledge spheres. Considering climate change and uncertainty in the future, the objective of this Special Issue aims to collect articles in all fields of coastal adaptation, particularly in advancing the understanding of the biophysical environment and coastal processes, natural and anthropogenic climate change associated impacts along the coast, soft to hard engineering/technological measures, and sustainable coastal planning and development. We welcome contributions from research papers that employ:
• In-depth specific or broad multi-disciplinary holistic perspective;
• Local and/or comparative case studies that explore sustainable coastal adaptation options;
• Qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies such as, but not limited to, coastal vulnerability assessment, resilience-based approach and risk analysis.
