Manuscript Topics
Improving building performance faces several tasks, among which the adaptation to critical scenarios under given budget constraints plays a significant role. This special issue aims to examine the dynamic interplay between careful cost control under tough scenarios and performance targets. That means focusing on achieving high levels of energy efficiency, building safety, comfort, and health while both restraining expenses and adapting to challenging situations, such as rapidly developing demographic phenomena and other anthropological changes, as well as recurrent natural disasters.
This special issue is meant to include original research papers, review articles, and case study analyses covering topics relevant to the technical and financial solutions adopted in the building industry and the real estate market to address the above challenges, as well as the policy implications for promoting the sustainable development of the urban environment.
We encourage prospective authors to consider submitting their manuscripts on the following topics:
- Integrated design approaches meant to improve building performance from a variety of perspectives (including, but not limited to: energy consumption; health and safety of homes and workplaces; perceived comfort by the users);
- Design methodologies and valuation models for cost-efficient buildings;
- Responses adopted in real estate to rapidly developing demographic phenomena, other anthropological changes, and recurrent natural disasters;
- Climate adaptation and resilience strategies in real estate;
- Risk management and risk reduction as far as the built environment is concerned.
