Photocatalysis is a field of expansion over recent years. This interest parallels our increasing need for green chemistry and materials for sustainable energy. With diminishing fuel resources and with the concern for the effects of increasing CO2 in the atmosphere from fossil fuel burning, we need renewable resources for energy. Photocatalysis can be applied in a wide variety of areas, from water cleanup and demineralization to novel synthesis, but nowadays some research related to photocatalysis for biofuels production is being developed. An important current focus of research in chemistry, engineering and environmental sciences is the development of clean technologies to produce sustainable biofuels. This special issue calls for papers on Photocatalysis and Photocatalytic sustainable processes for energy and biofuels production covering topics of several alternatives to fossil fuels like biodiesel, bioethanol, hydrogen production, photocatalytic conversion of CO2 to hydrocarbon fuels, etc.
