Manuscript Topics
Many organizations have developed programs and initiatives to address the sale of unhealthy products by working with retailers and their surrounding communities to offer healthier alternatives and influence sustainable change. The tobacco and food and beverage industries spend billions of dollars to market their products in stores, including paying retailers to prominently display advertising. Consumption of unhealthy products, like tobacco and sugary drinks, can contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle as well as to the development of chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. AIMS Public Health will publish a special issue on addressing chronic disease prevention and tobacco control in the retail environment. Manuscripts that present innovative approaches including, but not limited to, policy development, educational outreach and community engagement are welcomed.
