Manuscript Topics
The fantastic evolution in terms of power semiconductor devices and the strongminded investigation for new topologies and control systems allowed the application of the power electronics converters in previously unimaginable areas with an incredible efficiency. However, the challenges are getting bigger, leading to intense research for high-performance multifunctional converters. The Smart Grid, a recent concept resulting from the integration of power electronics converters with information and communication technologies to achieve flexible and intelligent control of the electrical grid, is a good example of upcoming applications. This special issue aims at collecting and disseminating the new developments in terms of power electronics topologies and control systems for Smart Grids. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS)
• High-Voltage DC Transmission Systems (HVDC)
• Custom Power Devices (CPD)
• Active Power Conditioners (APCs)
• Active Power Filters (APF)
• Energy Storage Systems (ESS)
• Distributed Energy Resources (DER)
• Renewable Energy Sources (RES)
• Electric Vehicle Charging Systems (EVCS)

Paper submission
All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed before their acceptance for publication.
