In recent decades, energy demand of the world has increased drastically due to urbanization, modernization, and industrialization. To meet the energy demand in ecologic system and limited resources of fossil fuels, the world is looking for the alternative energy resources. Since we cannot survive without the sustainability of our mother nature, we need to seek a way to sustain our growth in harmony with nature. Renewable energy is an inevitable alternative for sustainable economic growth and the harmonious coexistence of human and environment. Renewable energy does not pollute environment and could be recycled in nature. However, there are some challenges facing the efforts to increase renewable energy use such as their high-up front costs and related insufficient cost effectiveness. The well-known renew-able energy alternatives are geothermal, hydropower, wind, solar, and biomass. Decision making among renewable energy alternatives is a multi-criteria problem including many conflicting issues.
The applications of soft intelligent computing in the renewable energy field are becoming increasingly important in the current scenario. Computers aid in developing a fully automated system, which would help in accurate manipulation of Informatics. The accuracy of the computer-aided systems is highly superior to the manual observations and hence the physicians significantly prefer automated systems. During the previous decade, soft computing has emerged as potential candidates for solving complex and intricate global optimization problems, which are otherwise difficult to solve by traditional methods. In present scenario Image Processing, signal processing, Industrial optimization, Control system applications and power system applications fields have challenging deeds which is to be unraveled by researchers. They are applying soft intelligent computing techniques for solving such problems. Some popular soft computing techniques for Global Optimization include Genetic Algorithms (GA), Differential Evolution (DE), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Artificial Bee Colony (ABC),Firefly Algorithm (FFA) algorithm etc. and some machine learning techniques such as ANN, Fuzzy logic, Neuro-fuzzy, etc. These methods have been successfully applied to a wide range of benchmark and real-world application problems. This special issue is an ideal platform for the researchers to come out with innovative ideas and approaches in the area of Information Technology. Prof. B. Nagaraj working as a Professor and Head in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore, India. He received his M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Anna University, and Karpagam University in 2004 and 2010, respectively. In 2005, he joined a Lecturer in Kamaraj College of Engineering, India and he worked there for 12 years (till May 15th 2013) in various positions. His technical expertise and research interests include control system, Automation, soft computing, and high-speed signal processing. He received Best Researcher Award from Karunya University for the best research paper in the year 2010. He is the author or co-author of more than 48-refereed publications in journals and conferences. He applied for 1 patent and is published in Indian Patent Journal. He is a member of various professional bodies like IEEE, MAENG, IACSIT, ISTE, andIETE. He is a reviewer for different reputed journals like Elsevier, Wiley, Inderscience etc., and he has been the Guest editor for few special issues in Hindawi, Elsevier, Inderscience, and Springer.
Prof.Danilo Pelusi, Teacher in the Faculties of Communication Sciences and Bioscience and Agro-Food and Environmental Technology, his research is on coding theory and artificial intelligence. Moreover, he is interested in signal processing, patterns recognition, fuzzy logic, neural networks, and genetic algorithms. Assistant Professor in Computer Science from 2009 to 2012 at the University of Teramo, he has developed research activity on control systems optimization and database management to the Astronomic Observatory Collurania "V. Cerulli" of Teramo. Reviewer of international journals and conferences, he is Editorial board member of journals "Journal of Universal Computer Science", "International Journal of Advances in Telecommunications, Electrotechnics, Signals and Systems", "Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research", "Science Journal of Circuits, Systems and Signal Processing". Member of the PhD board in Epistemology of Informatics and Social Changes (University of Teramo), Administrator of the e-learning platform e-RID of University of Teramo from 2009 to 2012, PhD in Computational Astrophysics, he obtained the degree in Physics from the University of Bologna. Guest editor for Inderscience, Springer.
Dr. Ganesan, is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Oakland University, Rochester, MI 48309, USA. He has over 25 years of teaching and research experience in Digital systems. He served as the chair of the CSE department from 1991 to 98. He is with Electrical and Computer Engineering department since 2008. He received his master's and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, India. He worked at National Aeronautical Laboratory (NAL) India, Ruhr University Germany, Concordia University Canada, and Western Michigan University before joining Oakland University.
