Tenure-track Faculty in Mathematical Biology (TTFMB)

Subject to the availability of funding, the School of Mathematics at Georgia Tech expects to make one or more tenure-track faculty hires in the areaof Mathematical Biology.  This position presents exceptional opportunities in foundational research, in training programs, and in cross-disciplinary connections. Expertise in the School includes, immunology, microbial dynamics, a number of areas at the interface of molecula rbiology and discrete mathematics, disease transmission, biological networks, mathematical neuroscience, bioinformatics and statistical methods in biology, and aggregation dynamics. The leadership for the recently funded NSF-Simons Center– The Southeast Center for Mathematics and Biology - is located in the Schoolof Math at Georgia Tech. Furthermore, the School is a key partner in several programs at Georgia Tech, including PhD programs in Quantitative Biology and Biostatistics. Georgia Tech has a variety of complementary strengths, including biomedical engineering, neuroscience, biochemistry, and data analysis in the life sciences, just to name a few. The School plays leadership roles in TRIAD, the cross-disciplinary NSF-funded center in datascience, and the NSF-funded research training hub in Geometry and Topology (GTGT).

Priority will be given to those candidates who: (1) show thepotential to carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech; (2) complement existing strengths in the School of Mathematics, listed at http://www.math.gatech.edu/faculty-research-interests; (3) enhance connections to other programs and units at Georgia Tech; (4) havestrong potential for external funding; (5) demonstrate enthusiasm and potentialfor supervision of junior researchers at all levels; and (6) have ademonstrated commitment to high quality teaching at both the undergraduate andgraduate levels, as the duties will include teaching graduate and undergraduatecourses. For additional informationon the School, see http://www.math.gatech.edu.

We encourage applications from active independent researchers in allareas of Mathematical Biology, with direct links to biology and the life sciences. Appointments at the assistant professor level are preferred, but exceptional candidates at all ranks will be considered. A Ph.D. (or its equivalent) in Mathematicsor a closely related field is required. Applications should also include evidence of teaching interest and abilities. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor positions should submit a statement outlining their vision for leadershipand service as a senior faculty member at Georgia Tech.
