Manuscript Topics

Organic semiconductors and organic molecules have been heavily investigated in recent years in the context of spintronics. These materials have weak spin-orbit and hyperfine interactions, which makes them an attractive environment for hosting spin-based classical and quantum information. These materials exhibit intriguing interfacial effects and can be used to realize flexible multifunctional spintronic devices. Chiral organic systems can also play the role of efficient spin injectors and detectors, which can potentially eliminate ferromagnetic materials in spin devices.

To put these tantalizing advances and other contemporary promising developments into perspective, this special issue invites original research papers and topical reviews from the experts in this area. Experimental and theoretical research related to physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering aspects of organic and molecular spintronics will be considered. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

• Spin injection in organics (including interfacial effects and self-assembled monolayers)
• Spin transport and spin relaxation in organics
• Magnetic field effects in organics
• Organic spin valves and other devices
• Molecular spin devices and physics
• Organic/molecular magnets
• Chirality induced spin selectivity

These articles will be published in AIMS Materials Science open access free of charge. Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed before their acceptance for publication.
