Manuscript Topics
The increasing demand for sustainable practices in agriculture and industry highlights the need for innovative approaches to manage agro-industrial residues effectively. The generation of large quantities of residues from agro-industrial activities presents both challenges and opportunities. Traditionally, these residues were often treated as waste, leading to environmental concerns such as pollution and resource depletion. However, recent advances in treatment technologies and re-use strategies are transforming these residues into valuable resources, contributing to a circular economy and sustainable development.
The re-use of agro-industrial residues can lead to the creation of bioenergy, biofuels, biochemicals, and other value-added products. This shift not only mitigates environmental impacts but also enhances the economic viability of agricultural and industrial processes. Advanced treatment methods, including biochemical, thermochemical, and physical processes, are at the forefront of these efforts, offering efficient and eco-friendly solutions. Moreover, the integration of these technologies with smart systems and IoT-based monitoring tools provides a more robust approach to managing these residues.
The primary objective of this Special Issue is to provide an overview of recent developments in the treatment and re-use of agro-industrial residues. These advancements encompass innovative treatment methods, novel re-use applications, and the development of integrated systems for efficient residue management.
Topics of interest for this special issue include, but are not limited to:
• Biochemical treatments for residue valorization
• Thermochemical conversion processes for energy production
• Advanced physical treatment methods
• Bioenergy and biofuel production from agro-industrial residues
• Development of biochemicals and value-added products
• Circular economy approaches in residue management
• IoT and smart systems for residue treatment monitoring
• Sustainable agriculture through residue re-use
• Innovative recycling techniques
• Life cycle assessment of residue treatment and re-use
• Case studies on successful residue management projects
We invite submissions for this special issue, which aims to explore the latest innovations in the treatment and re-use of agro-industrial residues. We welcome contributions from researchers, academicians, industry experts, and policymakers from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.
