Manuscript Topics

The increasing diffusion of renewable dispersed generators, electric vehicles and actively-involved customers combined with the more and more wide application of ICT systems involves that the planning and management of the distribution network are challenging. Remote control and automation systems are key factors for improving reliability but the transformation of the distribution network into a cyber-physical system may involve cyber-attacks that worsen the reliability.
The Smart Grids orchestrate the actors of the distribution systems to ensure a reliable and resilient distribution network able at satisfying load demand and environment need. Distribution network reliability improvement in the Smart Grid can be improved thanks to the autonomous Microgrids. In fact, when a fault occurs, the distribution network operator could operate in autonomous mode the healthy portions of the network that can not be temporarily supplied by the main grid. Researches analysing the reliability of intelligent distribution networks accounting for various Smart Grid and Microgrids topics are especially welcome. Works drawing feasible applications of artificial intelligence and IoT for improving reliability are also encouraged.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
1. Analytical and Monte Carlo methods for the reliability evaluation
2. Distribution network reliability in presence of renewable generators and electric vehicles
3. Effect of cyber-physical system vulnerability on the distribution network reliability
4. Optimal design and management of smart distribution networks for increasing reliability
5. Benefits and challenges in autonomous Microgrids adopted for enhancing reliability
6. Influence of advanced automation, remote control and smart sensing on distribution network reliability
7. Beyond the simulations: projects, demonstrators, laboratories, hard-in-the-loop for testing the reliability of smart distribution networks.
