Bioprocess, a biocatalysis-based technology, is becoming popular in many research fields and widely applied in various industries. However, low bioconversion, low productivity, and high costs during industrial processes are usually the limitation in bioprocess. Therefore, many biocatalyst strategies have been developed to meet these challenges in recent years. This Special Issue aims to provide researchers with a deeper understanding of biocatalysis, characterization techniques, and applications in different combustion systems.

Potential topics to be covered by the Special Issue include, but are not restricted to, the following:
• New methodologies and tools for the synthesis of biocatalysts
• Biocatalysts as catalysts in combustion systems
• Characterization of biocatalysts
• Improving the biocatalysis activity of biocatalysts
• Biocatalysts for biodiesel
• Combustion systems performance and emission improvements
• Immobilisation of lipases

We invite top researchers and authors to submit original research or comprehensive review articles for consideration for publication in a Special Issue "Biocatalysts for Sustainable Combustion Applications" in AIMS Bioengineering. These articles will be published in AIMS Bioengineering open access. Submitted papers should not be previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed before their acceptance for publication.
